These are some little water colours I've done recently. They were for a lounge my friend was putting and asked me to do some art for it. It was quite flattering cause I never did anything like that before. One is a test and one is from the actual event guess which is which?

Noir

I bought this wicked cool Film Noir Box set. I've a fan of film Noir and haven't been exposed to that much, and it was the perfect one to educate me on all things Noir. Here is a picture inspired by a film called "Too Late for Tears" it was really cool. I wish I captured some of the coolness with my drawing...sigh!

White Empty Walls: What a Great Opportunity!

My walls have been really empty for the last long while and I thought that it would be cool to fill them with my own art work. It will be quite a task to undertake since I haven't painted and or drawn in a while let alone done anything finished enough to justify being put up. Right now I only have two portraits I've done and some other things on the back burner I want to finish. Still got a long way to go.

I've thought of a project for myself to start a sort of production wall of all the shows I've worked on so far (only 2). I'm going to draw one picture for every production I've worked on. This one is for Chop Socky. I don't know if I'll every find the time to paint it.

Pathetic Post

I always seem to have trouble posting, actually finding the time to post. One of my teachers said that one aspect to an artists life is life itself. That can influence how much work we do and how well we do it. For me life has been getting a lot more attention and my personal work has been getting pushed to the side to accomodate.

This is a sketch that I painted in watercolour a while afterward. I've been trying to find a new 'voice' in my cafe drawing. Since I've been sitting in cafes for the last year or two I feel I've gotten pretty stale. So I've been trying to just remember people I've seen (commuting or when I'm out) and draw and paint them out later as a kind of excercise. I've been pretty pleased with the results. Hopefully later on I'll post some more of my sketchbook stuff.

Happy New Year?....

I know it's been a long time. I've been really busy at work so I haven't done anything blog worthy, I have been drawing still but most of my attention has been animating on the show I'm working on now. in a while I hope that will change soon. These are some jpegs of some scenes I worked on and will be putting on my reel. It was a good first experience in the industry and I have carried a lot of fond memories from it. I have to put together my reel soon so hopefully I can post that.

There was a blackout at work, so I lost a file I was working on and couldn't work for about 3 hours. Me and my friend Qiqo thought it would be a great time to draw. So a good portion of the wait was spent drawing with no objection from me. This is the sketch done in my sketchbook during the blackout. Semi fan art of Eureka 7 ( an anime we were talking about it and one thing led to another).

These are some quick studies I did when I sat in on an afro-caribbean dance class. It was fun and I would definately go again. I find watching live performances really inspiring to draw and I hope to be able to do it more often.

I can now say I've completed one of my most recent goals I went to see Cirque du Soleil's new show Kooza. I've been a big fan of their various shows for a while now, and have been watching every tv special I possibly could and burning a hole through youtube so that I see any other video they had about them. I just really love how they really implement everything from lighting, to awesome costume design, to wonderful pantomimed performance into every show. It's like pure inspiration for me and just makes me want to draw and paint (if only I could do it well...sigh)

By the way I have been drawing but been lazy with the posting, but since summers almost done I should get back into the swing of things.

Here is a follow up to a previous post I thought it would be cool just to put up. And since I don't have anything to interesting sketching wise I'll post this memory instead. Previously I talk about going to Washington for a conference. Well just recently I got this photo and it brought back a flood of good memories....of breaking the law! This photo was taken outside the White House ( I swear 15 secends) before we got yelled at by National Security. My friends and I were running around and taking photos infront of the White House ( right by the fenced off stairs to the actual building). So me and my best friend see this empty fountain and thought it would be fun to hop in the little boxes they had in it. So we were running around in the fountain and just when we settled in to take our picture. We hear this shouting and we look up and see these army guys in fatigues shouting at us with rifle in there hands (not pointed at us thank God but just holding them....really tightly). When we made out what their shouts were we ran out of that fountain post haste, not to stir up a national incident.
Well live and learn. Don't jump into fountains for a photo op at the White House or there could be grave repercussions....Dum dum Daaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

The story behind this one is that I didn't even intend to draw my sister sleeping. I was just drawing away in my own little fits of drawing I may have on my free time, and I look over and see my sister sleeping, I couldn't resist. I just really loved her "pose" if you could call it that I this see was very relaxed at that moment....She'll kill me later for this one.

Later on I'll post some more thumbnails, they've become quite the saving grace at work even just taking a little time out to plan what I need to do before animating.

It's been a week since I've come back from Washington. It was too fun, and I really think I got used to not having to go to work or bare any sort of responsibilty at all...LOL. Work has been busy as usual. It always seems I have so much trouble adjusting to my life once I get back into it. This is just a sketch of the Whitehouse pretty much all the sketching I had time for over there. I really want to go back and take it in more and all the surrounding area, and hopefully not get yelled at by security around the monuments....but that's another story.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been really tied up with life. There hasn't been that much drawing going on or drawings that are blog worthy to my dismay. Well all I have to report is that after my last post at my local church I went on a 21 day Fast. I just finished this past sunday and I'm feeling very enlightened, optimistic and not that hungry (suprisingly). Also in that time I went to New York for a Youth conference for my church as well. At work I've been pretty busy finishing up the crunch time stuff (animating like a maniac), and adjusting from coming back from my trip. It's wierd that going away for 3 days can turn your life upside down. The funny thing is I'm going to Washington D.C. in like 2 days. I'm really excited to go I hope I get some good drawing done when I go down and maybe check out a gallery since I'm going to be right in the heart of D.C. pretty close to the White House I hear. But definatly I will post in the very near future.

I used to draw so often on the train when I started commuting to work, but that has soon been replaced by sleeping and reading my Bible. But Every so often I do draw people on the train, when I'm not tired from the hustle and bustle of work. Nothing special about these drawings, no particular thought in mind, nothing I wanted to capture. Just people doing the same boring stuff I do on my way to work.

Can you believe it! Right after I started this blog, I got hit with "crunch" time at work. SO I've been animating a lot and not getting alot of time to draw ( even less than usual...well I have been thumbnailing.....so I guess have been drawing, but I definetly don't have the time to scan stuff and post).
